Northern Strands is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Project Quality Specialist, whose primary responsibility is supporting project teams in ensuring that all goods and services (project deliverables) meet quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. This role will oversee the creation or development of a quality plan when planning, implementing, and monitoring quality processes across the project lifecycle, while driving continuous improvement and consistent application of applicable standards. What You’ll Be Doing
Project Quality Plan Execution
- Oversee all quality specifications for all projects and work with Project Managers and Coordinators to define all quality requirements across all project phases
- Support and participate in the development and implementation of project-specific quality plans from project initiation, including Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and turnover packages
- Identify quality requirements, risks, and controls during project initiation and planning
- Provide quality assurance support and input to ensure compliance with organizational quality systems, industry standards, and customer specifications
- Work with the Quality Inspector to ensure that all ITPs and turnover packages are accurate and contain all the required project-related information
- Review internal and external inspection reports thoroughly
- Document, track, and report defects, non-conformities, and other quality issues detected by the Quality Inspector during inspection and testing
- Ensure all material certifications and/or material test reports follow the project’s prescribed processes and are properly uploaded to the project job folder
- Review completion of project Critical Measurement documents, RFIs, and Deviation Requests recorded by the Quality Inspector and verify for accuracy
- Serve as the main point of contact between the Quality division and the project manager/coordinator responsible for the project
- Ensure all relevant records are maintained and retained as identified in the project scope of work
- Complete and compile corresponding checklists
Process Control & Compliance
- Complete periodical audits of completed projects and/or work in progress to determine whether the work meets specifications, project requirements, work instructions, and regulatory frameworks, including internal procedures
- Conduct process audits, inspections, and quality checks throughout project execution
- Perform internal division audits to ensure adherence to current processes and verification of corrective actions
- Perform vendor audits for supplier evaluations and NCR follow-up as required
- Maintain clear and complete documentation to support traceability and compliance
Incident Management & Continuous Improvement
- Track non-conformances, immediate actions, and corrective actions documented in the NCR log
- Participate in root-cause analysis and support teams in implementing effective solutions for internal and third party supplier non-conformances
- Investigate customer complaints related to quality and assist in the development and implementation of corrective action
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project quality outcomes
Metrics & Reporting
- Develop and track project quality KPIs (i.e., defect rates, audit findings, process adherence, etc.)
- Prepare summary project quality reports for project managers, key stakeholders, and division managers
- Observe quality performance trends and recommend corrective action strategies
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work adjacent to project managers, engineering, operations, and suppliers to ensure quality expectations are aligned
- Provide quality-related support, guidance, and training to the project team members as required
- Execute required project closeout quality measures to address any deficiencies or discrepancies and ensure all quality documentation packages are ready for customer turnover
What You Bring to the Table
- Minimum 2 to 5 years work experience in a manufacturing or mining environment
- Previous quality engineering or quality coordinating experience is required
- Experience in projects and manufacturing practices, procedures, and inspection methods
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and implementation of continuous improvement programs, such as Kaizen and 5S, is an asset
- Knowledge and experience with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 compliance principles
- Basic blueprint interpretation skills with some knowledge of CSA W47.1 & W47.2 CWB Weld Procedures
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Familiarity with quality assurance methodologies, tools, and regulatory standards
- Previous project management experience is an asset

- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset
